  • As political right is not being extended to persons with disabilities Swabhiman organized an interface between political representatives and persons with disabilities on 4th March 2014 at CYSD. A charter of demands was presented to the leaders from various political parties. BJD was represented by Amar Sathpathy, BJP was represented by Prabhati Parida, CPI (M) was represented by Suresh Panigrahi, Odisha Jan Morcha by Mihir Mohanty and AAP by Nishilkant Mohapatra. All parties committed to ensure basic rights to persons with disabilities, their political participation and including their demands in their party manifesto.
  • Regular Follow up with the Members of Manifesto Drafting Committee of BJD, BJP and Congress has been done. In the process our team met Ms. Pramila Mallick  of BJD, Sri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan of BJP, Sri Giridhar Gamango and Prof. Kailash Acharya of Congress.
  • OSDN Partner  SHRADHHA, Rourkela has presented Our Charter of Demands to Sri Sarada Nayak and Sri Dillip Ray.
  • A Blood Donation Camp was held at Swabhiman on 30th January, 2014.
  • On the occasion of International Day for Persons with Disability, Swabhiman organized “Colors of Love” at Master Canteen with students from IMS, Biju Pattnaik College of Social Work, BJB, etc .Various activities were organized on the part of awareness drive among volunteers and visitors. Around 500 visitors experienced the challenges of disability through simulation activities like walk with blind fold and sitting on wheel chair.
